A Wedding Took Place

Thirty five years ago
A wedding took place
I remember it well
I had a younger face

At an old church
Steeped in history
Surrounded by graves
Of Corstorphine’s finery

The sun shone
As the people arrived
Taking their place
On a pew inside

I took my place
In front of the altar
Waiting on one
I did not falter

She walked down the isle
With her father beside
A beautiful lady
She was my bride

The ceremony began
To unite us forever
The future we faced
We lived together

Our hearts connected
Our journey begun
Plenty of happiness
Lots of fun

A wonderful day
I’ll never forget
Life changed from a solo
To a duet
